A self-guided portrait painting escape at Toronto’s first indoor picnic café

Bring a friend, a date, or a favourite photo of someone you love, and spend a dreamy session creating your own stylized portrait at Dear Peachies Picnic Café.

Rather than focusing on perfect realism, this experience invites you to interpret your subject in a style that feels like you. Paint your partner across the table, recreate a favourite photo, turn your pet into a colourful work of art or experiment with a playful, abstract portrait.

This is a self-paced and self-guided experience, not a step-by-step painting class. We’ll provide plenty of portrait styles, colour palettes, composition ideas and visual references to help you get started, along with gentle support from our Peachies hosts when needed.

Select the Prepared Sketch option when booking and send us one reference photo in advance. Before your visit, we will create a light pencil outline of the subject on your canvas so you can focus on choosing colours, adding details and making the portrait your own.

No portrait experience is required. Your painting can be realistic, colourful, minimal, cartoon-inspired, abstract or wonderfully imperfect.

Would you like a little extra help getting started?

Select the Prepared Sketch option when booking and send us one reference photo in advance. Before your visit, we will create a light pencil outline of the subject on your canvas so you can focus on choosing colours, adding details and making the portrait your own.

The prepared sketch is intended as a simple painting guide rather than a detailed or photorealistic drawing. Clear photos with one main person or pet work best.

Reference photos must be submitted at least 3 days before your event date to dear.peachies@gmail.com. Sketch preparation may not be available for photos received after the deadline.

Whether you exchange canvases with a friend, paint your partner from life or quietly work from a favourite photograph, this is your invitation to sip some tea and see a familiar face in a completely new way.

🗓 How It Works:

• Each session is 2 hours long.
• This is a self-guided experience rather than an instructor-led workshop.
• You may arrive at any time during your slot, but the end time is firm. For example, if you book 7:00–9:00 PM, you may arrive at 7:15 PM but must finish by 9:00 PM sharp.
• A 30-minute reset takes place between sessions, so please respect the scheduled end time.
• Guests painting one another may choose to reveal their finished portraits at the end, or watch each masterpiece unfold across the table.
